Numbers that hold up to the people who scrutinise them, and that help you run the business in the meantime.
Embedded senior finance leadership on a part-time basis. A commercially minded CFO who is present in your business, accountable for your financial function, and aligned to your stage, without the cost of a full-time hire.
How fees work. Just like a full-time CFO, we do not charge by the hour or the day. We agree a baseline of meeting attendance and preparation, the deliverables you need, and your longer-term objectives. The monthly fee is fixed against those objectives, and is revised only by mutual agreement if the scope changes, for example during a funding round. You get price certainty; we get the freedom to focus on outcomes rather than the clock.
It starts with a diagnostic. Most engagements begin with a short paid diagnostic: a focused review of your finance function, typically two to four weeks. You receive a written report covering the issues identified, a solution roadmap, and the priorities for the first 90 days of a fractional CFO engagement. Pricing for the diagnostic is negotiable based on size and complexity, but typically lands in the S$5,000 to S$20,000 range. If you then go ahead with a fractional CFO engagement, the full cost of the diagnostic is credited against the retainer over the first 12 months.
What you get
We help founders and owners walk into Seed, Series A and B conversations, and bank financing discussions, with the numbers, the narrative and the structure that serious investors and lenders expect. Having sat on the scrutiny side of these processes for two decades, we know exactly where deals slow down, and prepare you before it happens.
We also help you decide on funding strategy before you raise: which type of capital fits your needs, from whom, and when. That means weighing equity, convertibles, debt and grants, modelling dilution and runway under each, and anchoring the raise to clear milestones, so you take the right capital from the right source rather than the first term sheet on the table.
Where investors or regulation require an external audit, we get your data, processes and policies in shape so the statutory audit, performed by your appointed public accounting firm*, runs smoothly and free of surprises.
* Gerrard & Co Consulting Pte. Ltd. does not perform statutory audits.
Typical deliverables
Investors, lenders and regulators all ask the same question in different words: is this business under control? Good governance is how you answer yes. We design and build the controls, reporting, processes and oversight that let a board, an investor or a regulator rely on what your finance function tells them, and that help you make better decisions in the meantime.
This is project work, typically four to ten weeks. It covers the practical layer, such as month-end close, spend controls, forecasting and a board pack that gets read, and the governance layer: delegated authorities, policies, oversight of risk and compliance, and the information flow between management and the board. For regulated businesses, that includes the control environment your licence and your auditors expect to see.
The output is not a slide deck. It is working processes, a forecast model your team can maintain, and a governance framework proportionate to your size, designed for where you are going rather than patched together for where you have been.

Pricing
We don't publish a rate card, because fees depend on scope: the complexity of your business, the role you need filled, the objectives we agree, and the cadence of involvement.
What we can tell you: a full-time CFO in Singapore costs SGD 250,000 to 400,000 or more a year, all-in. The fractional model exists so that you get the senior judgement without that overhead, sized to what your business actually needs and rescoped as you grow. Diagnostics are typically priced between S$5,000 and S$20,000 and credited in full against a subsequent retainer.
Every engagement begins with a written scope and an agreed fee. No hourly meters running in the background, and no surprises on the invoice.
Common questions
A fractional CFO gives you senior finance leadership on a part-time basis. That means owning your reporting and forecasting, managing cash and runway, preparing board and investor materials, overseeing your bookkeeper or accounting provider, and acting as your sounding board on commercial decisions. You get the judgement of an experienced CFO, sized to your stage.
Bookkeeping records what happened. A fractional CFO is accountable for what the numbers mean and what you should do next: strategy, forecasting, investor communication and control. Gerrard & Co typically works alongside your existing bookkeeper or accounting firm rather than replacing them, and will tell you honestly if that layer needs upgrading.
The common triggers: you are 6 to 12 months from a fundraise or a bank facility; investors or lenders are asking for more sophisticated reporting; the board pack has become a monthly struggle; or you have raised and now need discipline over how the money is deployed. If your numbers are about to be scrutinised by people who allocate capital professionally, that is the moment.
Fees depend on scope: the complexity of the business, the role you need filled, and the objectives we agree. As an anchor, a full-time CFO in Singapore typically costs SGD 250,000 to 400,000 or more a year all-in. The fractional model delivers the senior judgement at a fraction of that. Most engagements start with a paid diagnostic (typically S$5,000 to S$20,000 over two to four weeks), the full cost of which is credited against the CFO retainer over the first 12 months if you go ahead.
No. Gerrard & Co Consulting Pte. Ltd. is not a public accounting firm and does not provide statutory audit services. What we do is prepare you for one: getting your data, processes and policies in shape so that the audit performed by your appointed public accounting firm runs smoothly and without surprises.
Yes. Gerrard & Co is based in Singapore and works with companies across Southeast Asia, typically on a remote-first basis. Many regional clients are structured through a Singapore holding company, which we know well.
Usually not. The model works best as a senior layer over your existing bookkeeper, accountant or in-house finance staff: setting the standard, reviewing the output and translating it for decision-makers. Where the existing layer is not working, you will get a frank assessment and options.
Eventually, and a good fractional CFO should tell you when. Common signals: CFO workload sustains beyond 10 to 12 days a month, you are preparing for Series C, or the operational cadence demands daily presence. Part of the engagement is building the function a future full-time CFO would want to inherit.
That's what the first conversation is for. Tell us where your business is, and we'll tell you how we can best help, including if the answer is “nothing yet”.
