Who we work with
Every company reaches decision points where bookkeeping is not enough: a funding round, a bank facility, a new investor, a regulator's letter, a market to enter or a hire to make. That is when finance needs to become a decision-support function. That is when we are called.
Types of client
Gerrard & Co is industry agnostic. What our clients have in common is not their sector but their situation: they have outgrown basic accounting and need senior finance judgement, without yet needing a full-time CFO.
Venture-backed businesses from seed to Series B, usually in technology. Investors are on the cap table or about to be, and the numbers have to survive diligence, board meetings and the next round. We bring the metrics investors expect, and the reporting that makes them credible.
Owner-managed businesses in any sector that have grown past the point where the accountant's year-end numbers are enough. Typically facing a bank facility, a succession, an acquisition, an expansion or simply the need to know, every month, how the business is really doing.
Family offices, boutique fund managers, financial advisers and payments businesses. Regulated or heading that way, with a licence, a regulator and an auditor who expects a control environment the firm's size does not always allow for in-house. We also help firms prepare the financial projections, capital and governance elements of a licence application.
The decision points
Sector depth
Good finance discipline transfers across sectors. That said, two decades in high-scrutiny environments results in particular depth in technology and software, fintech and payments, digital assets, funds and investment management, and commodity trading. If your business is in one of these, we have probably seen your problem before.
Geography
Gerrard & Co is based in Singapore, where the region's growth companies often raise, domicile and are held to account. We work with companies across Southeast Asia on a remote-first basis, with on-site time as engagements need it.
Many regional clients are structured through a Singapore holding company with operations elsewhere in the region. That structure, its reporting expectations, and its investors are home ground.
And in fairness
If what you need is a statutory auditor or corporate secretarial services, that isn't Gerrard & Co. We work alongside good providers of both, and we're happy to point you to the right people.
And if a conversation makes clear you don't need us yet, we'll say so. A finance function should be right-sized, and that can sometimes mean that basic bookkeeping is sufficient.
